SGT Ryan Christopher Isom

18 February 1986 – 21 September 2021

Disabled Veteran – Ryan signed up to serve his country on the delayed entry program after 911. He went into the military shortly after high school graduation. Ryan always loved watching war documentaries even as a young child. When he was 7, we had to purchase the movie To Hell and Back with Audri Murphy. We had to rent it constantly for him to watch. As an adult he continued to watch all the war documentaries. He and his dad would talk about the war documentaries on a regular basis.

Ryan was always determined to accomplish everything. When he was learning to stand, he would stay at the table for 30 minutes or more, notgiving up until he stood. As a small boy he wanted to learn to juggle. He practiced constantly until he mastered that task.

Ryan was the laughter in our home. He was funny, and always played jokes. He provided laughter at the gatherings and parties. Everyone loved him. Ryan brought love, laughter and joy to so many people. Ryan never knew a stranger. He talked in understandable paragraphs when he was 15 months old. He had one speed which was high. All day everyday everything was “Why”.

He had a big caring heart. He was always helping others. He was kind and generous. Even though Ryan struggled financially and mentally he was always helping others any way that he could. He had so many friends. We always had a full house. He loved baseball and football. Ryan was a great catcher. Even though he was smaller than the other boys he was a fantastic football player. The girls in school considered him their protector. He was always watching out for them. His friendships last a lifetime.

Ryan loved being a Marine and he served his country well. In the Marines Ryan was known to be like Radar on the old TV series Mash. He always found everything that his unit needed to complete their mission or tasks. After leaving the Marine Corps Ryan earned 2 technical degrees. He was working on a 3rd when he passed.

Ryan married while in the Marines. They were married 8 years when his wife passed away. He loved his family. His face just glowed when they had a baby boy. He was so proud of his son. He loved and spent time with his son.

While in the Marine Corp Ryan earned the following awards,
Navy Sea Service Deployment 2 times
Global War on Terrorism
Service Iraq War 2 times
National Defense Service
Good Conduct Navy Unit Commendation

Ryan had a deep love of God, Family and Country.

Don’t ever give up. You are needed in this world,

~Sandy isom~ (Ryans Mother)
